Our 2023 Repair Cafe’s will be:
Trowbridge Town Hall 10am – 3pm
Saturday 29th April
Saturday 22nd July
The Repair Café began as a grass roots movement with 3 core objectives:
- To repair everyday household objects bringing them back into use, saving them from landfill and saving their owners the cost of buying new.
- To help people to learn new skills by supporting and learning from one another.
- To build stronger more resilient communities by building networks of skills and knowledge, encouraging people to come together to help themselves and others.
How will Trowbridge Repair Café work?
- TECO Repair Café will be held in the Court room at Trowbridge Town Hall.
- TECO will have a selection of 6 professional repairers, these will be skilled people who either, work professionally in repair work, or have lots of experience in their specialty. They will have a selection of tools and materials on site to help.
- Visitors will be invited to bring along items for repair, the items will be booked in where we will discuss with what needs repairing and who we think would be best to help.
- Visitors will then be given a ticket and asked to wait until the appropriate repairer is ready. During this time, we welcome visitors to take advantage of the special Repair Café offer in the Free-Range Café at the Town Hall.
- When your repairer is ready, visitors will be welcomed to come and sit with the repair person who will talk through the repair and share knowledge and skills, and hopefully fix the item! It will not be possible for us to repair everything, but we will do our best with the materials and skills we have, and if we can’t repair it, we will explain why and where you might be able to take the item next.
- There will be no charge for the repair service thanks to a generous grant received from Bath & West Community Energy Fund which will cover our costs to run the Café.
We are so excited to have the chance to bring Repairs Cafes to Trowbridge and we hope that you will join us, to have something mended, learn something new, meet someone new people, or just have a nosey to see what is going on in your town.
If Trowbridge Repairs Café’s sounds like something you would like to get involved with, we would love to hear from you!
